Writing is a skill that can be acquired by anyone, if they make the effort to do so and work to improve their skills. Therefore it is important that an individual follows a certain set of rules that can help them master the art of writing and wow their professors that can help get a grade that they deserve.

First off the greatest rule of writing is to look for a topic that you can actually work on and read the whole topic twice and underline all the keywords. This important because the keywords will help you draw your thesis statement, which is extremely vital in an essay. Now an essay follows a typical format that is it consists of an introductory paragraph, main body, and conclusion, which is the summing up of all the point that have been mentioned in the entire prose.

The thesis statement is always present in the introductory paragraph and is usually mentioned in the last line. The paragraph should be no longer than 8 to 10 lines maximum and before you state your thesis always slightly discuss the general approach and view about the topic held by the society. Never use contractions in your essay and essays usually are from a third person's perspective therefore, one should always avoid using words like I, You, We, They, Us or Me; unless your instructor asks you for your personal opinion or view then in that case it is okay to use them.

There are various types of essays such as argumentative, descriptive, expository, and other types that actually decide the contents of the main body of the essay. In case of an argumentative essay, you must remain objective and assess both aspects of the topic. And this type of essay requires ample amount of evidences both qualitative and quantitative evidences from studies and it is always best to give prior credit to the individuals who conducted the study in order to avoid plagiarism and other ethical breaches by the prose. Descriptive essays contain a number adjectives and vivid descriptions and expository essay is also not that hard to write.

But we must follow all the guidelines clearly and the conclusion must sum up all the contents of the main body in a concise manner and in case of an argumentative essay, the writer can actually state his stance on the subject but should remain objective at the same time, so that he does not appear to be biased. It is also very crucial to make sure that we stay in the boundaries of the terms and rules of the assignments as the first thing that is checked when a paper is being marked is that whether it's written by keeping  the instructions in mind or not. Starting from the outlining to the formatting to the sourcing, everything holds a high importance when it comes to the assessment process.

Thus, essay writing is simple and if we follow these basic rules it is as easy as a piece of cake.
